“I can not praise NASSA enough for their commitment to keeping our young people safe through basketball. "
Chief Inspector, Gary Brown, youth lead from Newham Police

I am really proud of what NASSA are achieving. As Young Mayor of Newham it’s important all young people in the borough are safe, with positive interests and role models to inspire them.
NASSA are not just about sport they are also about making sure that young people are educated about the dangers and repercussions that come from getting involved in gangs and violence. I am proud to support them on behalf of Newham's young people.
Ali Mohammed , Newham's Young Mayor

‘We are extremely pleased to be working in partnership with NASSA in the creation of the most comprehensive basketball programme in the UK. As a very ambitious University we fully endorse the vision and values of NASSA, and we will collectively play a significant part in the regeneration of East London and the fulfilment of legacy post 2012. SportsDock is a flagship facility in London, and is a much greater asset to the community with NASSA an integral part of it.’
David Cosford , Director of sport, University of East London (UEL)

" On behalf of the under 13's coach and players I would like to thank you for making us feel so welcome at the match today.  The youngsters really enjoyed themselves and their coach said they learnt a lot from the experience of playing your team."

"Whilst playing and learning new skills they learn cooperation, self-discipline, perseverance and social skills while doing something which is fun. These skills are also transferred to their academic studies. The children enjoy coming to school. Basketball is used as a reward from certain children for their behaviour or standard of work"
Geneta Crooke, Hallsville Primary School

"Of most significance however, the advantages which have filtered into the classroom. The children's self esteem levels, raise successfully playing basketball, have helped their confidence with academic work"
Alison Helm, Curwen Primary School

"The sessions motivate the children, improving their confidence and concentration, this confidence is then transferred from court to the classroom, and the children have displayed more alertness and enthusiasm in all subject areas, there was a massive difference noticed around the time of the SATS when the children revised hard with a new found motivation to succeed. I am positive that this was mainly due to the skills and attitude they were acquiring in their basketball sessions"
Kelly Hodkinson, Scott Wilkie Primary School

"As well as learning the skills of basketball they are getting the opportunity to get physical exercise and endorse the healthy living skills we promote throughout the school.
I hope the funding will continue so that we can carry on playing basketball"
Ms S Carter, Head Teacher, Grange Primary School

"The basketball session are excellently run, children learn skill and discipline before ending up with a game. The children then attend their classes motivated and ready to learn. The enjoyment of these sessions can clearly be seen b the high attendance and the children's dedication to the coach."
Karen Hall, Star Primary School

"I have observed some of the sessions myself and have been impressed by the sustained focus of pupils which they have be able to elicit. Our Pupils clearly enjoy these sessions and I would like to think they will carry on for some time (if not permanently)"
Bob Hewis, John F Kennedy School, London

"The children thoroughly enjoyed the sport. They spoke highly of the coaches and their professionalism. We would like to thank Natasha, Chris and Danielle for their good work with our year 6's"
Julie Gooden, West Ham Church of England Primary School

"The Year 6 children (48 in total) really enjoyed the basketball classes, which took place as part of their P.E. lessons. The coaches' instructions were clear and easy to follow. The children soon learnt the benefits of listening and behaving well. There was no ridiculing, but plenty of credit where credit was due - either by skill, effort or improvement.
Several children now attend the club which takes place at Cumberland after school on Friday."
Year 6 Teachers, Keir Hardie Primary School

"I enjoy basketball because we get taught a lot of different skills, meet up with new friends and have fun"
